My air conditioner is leaking A LOT of water and has been for months. We put an old kitchen-sized garbage can under it to collect the water. In a day and a half, it was over-flowing. I know some water is normal, but this just seems excessive. If it helps, I live in Florida and it's (obviously) very hot and humid here. I usually keep the AC set at 79 though occationally, I lower it to 77 and rarely as low as 76.Check if the air conditioner is leaking air around itself. If not properly installed then you may have warm, humid air from outdoors entering the room around the A/C.
excellent advice, i fixed the leaking on my AC by further insulating unit against warm air entering.
MY AIR CONDTIONER NEVER LEAKED BEFORE BUT NOW STARTING ALL OF A SUDDEN.IT LEAKS IN THE CORNER UNDERNEATH THE BASE STCKING OUT IN MY LIVING ROOM. SOAKING MY FLOOR, WHAT CAN I DO IT ABOUT. CAN FOAM INSULATION HELP AT ALL ? CLEAN FILTER TOO. DID BUY SOME COUKING BUT DID NOT HELP MUCH. PLEASE GAT BACK.I don't have a specific answer. Don't think that insulation or caulking will cure your problem. Sounds more like a leveling problem, or a drain that has become blocked causing the water to back up into the front area of air conditioner. You may need to telephone for service.i have the same problem as yours and i wanted to know if u already fixed the problem and how???
Yes, thank you for the advice. I made it out of the dog house.
Yes that's a great advice.thank you for the information.
excellent article! my landlord just installed a slanty window AC in my apartment and it was leaking water all over the bedroom. glad to know it's nothing major and i can just find a screwdriver and tilt it back myself instead of waiting for someone to fix it. thank you!
Well my Air conditioner is leaking from the bottom and then it does it while its off to. What is that ?Kind of difficult to judge how much water you are leaking. The fact that you seem to have an excess amount of of water could be related to improper leveling or the internal water channels becoming blocked. May also be ralated to air infiltration form outside causing condensation at the bottom of air conditioner.
Great article! I looks like I have a small pump in my basement that pumps the excess water from the condensation outside. There is a small PVC pipe attached as well as a line full of water. This pump appears to be overflowing and is causing a very slow leak onto my basement floor. Have you seen this before? Any ideas how to fix?If the pump does not run replace it. If it runs but only when the water is too high and leaking then adjust the pump on and off level switch.
I have two wall units (similar to window types) of the same model. One leaks while the other does not. They both seem to function normally with nothing else different about them. I always thought it was normal to drip and I'm curious if something is wrong with the one that doesn't.
Thank you so much! Great article! My AC was leaking in the front all over my floor and like you said I lowered the back end and its not leaking anymore.
